What is a Female Friendly Hotel?

 

As a female traveller, when you travel, safety and security are NON NEGOTIABLES. You cannot compromise.on your security. Safety and security can make all the difference in how you experience your trip.

 

So here we share some tips on ensuring that you are safe and secure especially with your hotel/accommodation.

 

  1. Before booking a hotel, airbnb or any othet accommodation, take your time to do some research to make sure that it is female friendly, read reviews from other previous female guests. If you doubt anything, do not book the place, trust ypur 6th sense and find an alternative.
  2. Make sure that the hotel/accommodation is in a safe neighbourhood, that there is visible onsite security personnel, with cameras around and in the street, security personnel should patrol the street.
  3. The place must be in a walkable area with easy access to good public transport options and easy for you to stroll around.
  4. The place must be well lit, outside and inside, the lift area, the corridors shouls be brightly lit and have working cameras.
  5. The place must have 24hour front desk to ensure safe and secure late arrivals and check-ins.
  6. Check in desk must be discreet, not announcing your details and room.number loudly in front of other guests.
  7. Front desk must not ask if you are travelling alone in front of other guests. The information is already available on your booking and there is no need to repeat it loudly in front of other guests
  8. Once you have checked in and know your room number, do not keep the key card and the sleeve with the room number together.
  9. Your room must have enhanced security features such as double deadbolts and secute peepholes, and secondary door locks.
  10. Avoid ground floor rooms, or rooms next to an exit. Ask for rooms on higher floors away from easy street access.
  11. Your room must have hair dyrer, full length mirror and emergency feminine hygiene products at reception. High quality hangers must be available to hang your delicate fabrics.
